The First Issue: Standard Dry Shipping Container

I believe everyone is familiar with the types of containers. Today, we will introduce what types of container can be produced by Dong Fang International Containers. Let's go!

The standard sizes of dry containers

The standard dry shipping container, also known as the ordinary dry shipping container or dry container, is mainly used for sea, railway, and road transportation. In the market, the conventional standard dry shipping container sizes include 20GP, 20HC, 40GP, 40HC, and 45HC. Our container factories in various places of Dong Fang International Containers can produce these models. Among them, the most common ones are 20GP and 40HC containers, which are usually called "small boxes" and "big boxes" by people.

The introduction of big and small containers in dry containers

So, how big is the big container and how small is the small container? In fact, the small container - the 20GP container - has an English size of 20 feet x 8 feet x 8 feet 6 inches. When converted to metric size, it is 6.058 meters long, 2.438 meters wide, and 2.591 meters high. The total gross weight of the small container design is 30.48 tons, and the contents volume is 33.2 cubic meters. The maximum allowable stacking height is also classified.

The big container is also known as the 40HC dry freight container. When converted to metric size, its length is 12.192 meters, width is 2.438 meters, and height is 2.896 meters. The total gross weight of the container design is 32.5 tons, and the contents volume is 76.4 cubic meters. The maximum allowable stacking height is also classified.

Due to the uneven distribution of the national economic industry chain, different types of containers also exhibit a very interesting feature in terms of use. As you may have noticed, although the design weight of small and big containers is not much different, their volumes differ greatly. Therefore, the 40HC container is usually used to load some light goods, and is more popular in the eastern and southern regions of China. The 20GP small container is used to ship relatively heavier goods and is more popular in the northern region of China.
